About
Michelle Brookhurst
Michelle holds a Child Development Certificate in Early Childhood Education and a degree in Psychology, with a certification in Play Therapy. She has taught both preschool and TK, and worked with children for over 12 years.
Her therapeutic approach starts with creating a safe space where children feel comfortable being themselves, so they can creatively express their emotions, learn to cope through challenges, and practice the skills they need to grow and thrive. All behavior is communication, and Michelle uses play to foster a healthy and safe channel of conversation.
Michelle is able to assist parts with the tools and vocabulary to have successful communication and supported play experiences with their child, so both parent and child feel confident in their roles and relationship. This helps to cultivate a calm home, a happy childhood, and a confident adulthood.
As a loving mom herself, Michelle also understands the joys, challenges, and big emotions that come with raising children. She believes in meeting every child with compassion, patience, and respect, and supporting parents along the way.
Wondering if play therapy could help?
Families may seek support when a child is experiencing big emotions, anxiety or worry, difficulty with transitions, changes within the family, challenges with confidence or relationships, or simply needs a safe place to process what they're experiencing.
You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. The first step is simply starting a conversation about your child and your family's needs.
